About Me

I recently realized that I wasn't being true to myself when it came to dating. I seemed to keep running into the same type of guy of which I really didn't share very many common interests. I would find one commonality and cling to that in the hopes that it would be enough. Unfortunately for me, it was never enough and I always seem to be left wanting...looking...searching.

So here I am finally realizing that I need to find someone like myself that spazzed out over the trailer to the upcoming Batman movie or drooling over the beautiful Hobbit movie trailer and retweeting the link to the trailer. I want someone that can help me finish playing Batman Arkham City on my PS3 because I just can't finish a side quest. I am looking for someone that can't wait to talk about what happened on the last episode of Doctor Who or True Blood...or even watching their reaction as we watch shows together. I need someone that can overlook my quirks and non-supermodel status to truly accept me for me.

I am open minded and enjoy meeting new people. I am talker but I am a listener too. I am just putting myself out there and letting the chips fall where they may at this point.

I love to laugh. I enjoy dry humor and I am not easily offended. I smile a lot especially when I get nervous. I am socially awkward but I am usually pretty good with one liners when the time is right. I have a hard time taking compliments and I generally tend to redirect them back at the other person. I have been told I am too nice and because of that people tend to take advantage of my good nature. I am working on that and have gotten better at nipping things in the bud.

I am Puerto Rican but I was born and raised in Virginia. I don't have an accent and I actually don't speak much spanish. I am not very tall, around 5'2.I have olive toned skin, brown eyes with chemically altered light brown short hair with blonde highlights. I have one tattoo of a celtic cross on my upper back just below my neck. I am an obese female but I am working on that part of my life as well. I recently started working out (October 2011) 4-5 times a week and I am trying to eat a more healthy diet.

I am a systems analyst in the IT unit of a major auto insurance carrier. I write requirement documents for development efforts related to the software that is utilized for Auto Accident claim handling. I am also a tester of that funcationality. I have been doing that for about 8 years in various positions. I have been with my current company for over 10 years.

My parents have been together since god was a child I think. They fight like cats and dogs but they have stayed together all these years. I have 2 older brothers. One is married with 3 beautiful nieces (10, 7 and 2). My nieces all have very distinct personalities and I just adore them. My oldest brother is unmarried with no children and he loves singing karaoke. He is always trying to get me to go to these karaoke shows with him...not so much.

I enjoy reading vampire literature. I listen to music, mostly hard rock and alternative. Huge fan of 90s Grunge and Pearl Jam. Can't get enough of shows with scifi/horror twists. True Blood, Once Upon a Time, Being Human (BBC and SyFy), Chuck, Big Bang Theory, Doctor Who, Torchwood and Walking Dead to name a few. I admittedly also enjoy musicals and yes I watch Glee. Addicted to Glee! I love superheroes and used to collect comic books. I generally am a Marvel girl but I do love me some Dark Knight. I also watch Nascar, Indy car, American Le Mans and Grand Am. I like road course races they get to turn left sometimes. I am not big into sports but I know who the football teams are and can name some of the players. I have been known to watch a Baltimore Ravens or Redskins game. I understand the basic concept of baseball. I am not into basketball at all. I am kind of all over the place and I do have a tendency to remember random pop culture factoids. I should close this section off by saying I miss Saturday morning cartoons but I am glad they make cartoons like Batman the brave and the bold. It kind of makes up for those missing saturday morning memories.

I have a small group of friends that I hang out with. Only a few of them actually share most of my interests. I like going out for margaritas with my girlfriends on a Friday night and catching the lastest movie or going to the occasional bar to listen to music/live bands and people watch. I tend to be the one sitting at the table watching the purses while everyone else dances but I have been known to get out on the dance floor from time to time.

Someone that wants to hang out and get to know each other. Someone that wants to maybe go out and catch a band but might also like to sit at home and watch a movie, tv show or play video games. I want someone that can make me laugh and will talk with me. I would like to meet someone who won't mind watching crazy shows or going out to see the lastest movie about vampires, aliens or superheroes. I want to share my life and times with someone special and that will appreciate me for me. I would love to meet someone who will introduce me to new things and experiences.

I own a bird. His name is Big Bird and he is a male Grey Cockatiel. He is a crazy little guy and keeps me going and gives me strength. I read a lot of vampire fiction and love all things about vampires. I swing more towards True Blood vampires than wimpy Twilight vampires. I do play video games but I don't generally get a chance to play much. I love listening to music and rocking out. I don't play any instruments but I do tend to sing a lot. I sing everywhere...work, grocery store, shower and the car. I tend to not realize I am singing until someone points it out. I can carry a tune but I am not Amy Lee. I enjoy going to concerts and seeing live bands. I also like vegging out at home and catching up on my dvr shows. I do go to the gym after work most days except for Fridays usually. I also love to bake. Cheesecakes, Cakes/cupcakes,and all sorts of pies. I have been told I should open up a bakery, maybe if I was 10 years younger. I tend not to eat what I bake, especially since I am trying to get my weight under control. I bake because I like seeing people happy eating my bake goods and knowing the joy it brings to them.

I don't drink much usually 1 margarita a week. I am not big on beer but mixed drinks I enjoy or a nice hard pear cider. I enjoy sweet wines, Rieslings mostly. I might have a drink if I go out to dinner or the occassional glass of wine at home but I always keep it to a limit, especially if I am driving.

I love food. I try to watch my portions but I won't deprive myself. If I want a hamburger I will get a hamburger. When I want a salad I will eat a salad. I am trying to eat healthier and I try to find healthy alternatives. I enjoy mexican and italian foods...but chinese take out is my weakness. I love chinese food. I am new to sushi but I do enjoy what I have had. I do eat red meat, chicken and some seafood. I do have a sweet tooth and love a good mocha or latte. I have tried to eliminate soda from my diet but I do enjoy a good root beer from time to time.

I don't use anything illegal. I try to only take medicines/headache remedies only when needed.

I dress to be comfortable. I have to be business casual for work. Outside of work I am generally a jeans kind of girl. I am not very comfortable in dresses but I still try to be mostly fashion forward. I just always try to be comfortable in what I am wearing. When I am hanging out at home I tend to be in workout/lounge pants and a tshirt.

I am embrassing working out. I have been working out regularly since October of 2011 (4-5 times a week at a gym). I generally walk on a treadmill at varying speeds and inclines for 45 minutes to an hour. I occassionally workout on the nautilus machines and work with weights. I want to feel better physically and I am working towards losing weight. I have lost almost 20 lbs since I started working out and eating healthy.

I like being clean. I try to keep my hair done, but occassionaly I wear baseball caps when I don't feel like doing my hair. I like a guy that smells nice and bathes regularly. I don't have a preference on hair length or facial hair. Most of the characters in my vampire books have long flowing tresses.

I love my nieces and enjoy spending time with them. Kids are fun to be around and keep you on your toes. Open to having one of my own someday.

I love birds, especially since I own one. Makes me smile when he talks and sings. I am allergic to cats and can't be around them too much. I love dogs and most generally small fuzzy animals that you can cuddle with.

Yeah...thanks but no thanks. I'm trying to quit.

Raised Catholic...went to catholic. Stopped attending church after I was confirmed. I am sure their is a higher power at work but I can't explain it and don't really want to try.

I don't smoke because I am allergic. I won't stop anyone else from smoking but it's not my favorite habit on a person.
