About Me

Hi, I'm Paul; a 21 year old pipe smoking cravat wearing chap with a passion for music, films and gaming. I'm a bit socially awkward, but my friends tell me I'm a nice (if strange) person to be around once you get to know me. Then again they would say that. I've not had anything approaching a serious relationship before, but I'm hoping to change that.

I'm a university drop-out (studied Engineering, got bored, switched to Film & TV before Student Finance screwed me over) and consider myself to be quite cultured with a fair pinch of quirky sprinkled in. I spend most of my time gaming, watching films, reading books, writing, drawing and (at the moment) searching for a job.

Best described as quirky, I tend to be quite excitable and chipper, although I have the occasional blue spell. I always try to expose myself to new experiences, whether it's a band I haven't heard, a new game, film or TV show, a way of thinking, a physical activity, anything.

White, 5'11", short brownish blondish hair. A bit overweight, wears a lot of hats (not all at once though; I have standards).

High School Graduate or GED

Christ's College Finchley and Brunel University (dropped out of the latter due to financial trouble).

Layabout, procrastinator and dilettante.

Nowhere, unless you count helping edit a Student Newspaper.

Only child, live with my step-dad.

My main obsession is probably music; I listen it a lot and my tastes range from hard rock and metal (Faith No More, Slipknot, Queens of the Stone Age, Iron Maiden), some more experimental/progressive stuff (The Mars Volta, And So I Watch You From Afar, Battles, Between the Buried and Me), a bit of dance/electronica type stuff (Pendulum, Skrillex, Mr Scruff, deadmau5), quite a few fun sort of pop, sort of rock things (Electric Six, Hot Chip, Bloodhound Gang, Mercury Rev) and bands described by some of my friends as "unlistenably quirky" (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Butthole Surfers, The Tiger Lillies, Maximum the Hormone).

As you can probably tell by this point, I could talk about music for quite a while, I have been known to respond to requests for music suggestions with 4-5 pages of stuff. I'm also a self taught (read not very good) guitarist.

I have a small, quite tight-knit group of friends near where I live, and a wider circle from Brunel (even though I dropped out I still try to keep in contact with everyone, and it's close enough that I can pop by occasionally). Most of my social life is conducted on the internet at the moment, but I'm making a conscious effort to get out more, go to bars and meet people.

Someone who enjoys discussing anything from philosophy to music and preferably everything in between. Someone who can think for themselves.

My main requirement is that they must be slightly crazy; I've never met a sane person worth knowing, but then again, I'd classify very few people as completely sane...

I have a very strange sense of humour (people tell me), and it can switch between light-hearted and very dark. I have a matching taste for entertainment, and like a very strange combination of things.

Generally drink it in moderation; a pint or two every few days. Occasionally I will set out with the intention of getting totally and utterly slaughtered.

I really should eat more healthily, but I'm a junk food junkie.

Have no objection to them, but refuse to touch them, as I probably wouldn't be able to stop myself.

You can't beat a three piece suit with a cravat and a hat. Overall I have a preference for semi-formal old fashioned outfits, both on myself and others.

I'm quite out of shape at the moment, but am attempting to get into some sort of shape (preferably humanoid). So far it seems to be working.

I brush my teeth twice a day and bath/shower most mornings. Generally prefer it when others do the same.

I have no objection to them.

More of a cat person than a dog person, has a general loathing for parrots, due to previously sharing a house with a particularly psychotic example of the species. Would like to own a small snake.

I have 2 criteria for deciding who to vote for: 1. Do they have a workable plan to achieve their goals? 2. Are they evil?

I'm an atheist and a humanist, but I have a good deal of respect for religious people, as long as they are willing to discuss the topic in an open-minded way.

I smoke a pipe... so yeah. Used to smoke cigarettes but stopped, mainly due to the fact that I smoked cigarettes because I was addicted, as opposed to the pipe which I smoke because I enjoy it.
