About Me

Good morning/afternoon/evening! I'm Anastasia and being a firm believer in "describing myself is hard" I will stick in one (NOT all-encompassing) category:

-I'm a Taurus, and oddly enough, fit most conventional Taurus female descriptions (ie, laid-back, stubborn, slow temper, aesthetically driven) pretty closely despite the fact that horoscopes are realistically useless.

I'm a bit of a "grammar nazi" and I like proper English and the occasional totally unnecessary use of Elizabethan English. Somewhere in my head I'm a fiction writer/poet instead of a psychology student, hence being wordy and a thorough abuser of adjectives. I love love love music of all kinds, and if I'm enthusiastic about something I can be a total flailing spaz, which is my excuse for having love in this sentence four times. This is an occasional thing for people who are close enough to me though...in general, with the general public, I probably just seem like a polite, mild-mannered & laid-back if not somewhat eclectic academic.
No matter how chatty and superfluous I seem right now, "IRL" I am not the most forward person in the world...I like subtleties, metaphors, things with thought that other people SHOULD be keen enough to make note of, but usually they're not. :(

I try to be nice to everyone, I really do. It's not hard to make me laugh. My own sense of humor is either 'clever,' I suppose, or goofy-like, and sometimes a bit perverse. I probably fall into the "hopeless romantic" category, and I can say with honesty and quite a bit of embarassment that I will willingly, happily write people poems, especially ones for the menfolk.

I'm very pale, and I dye my hair various shades of brunette because being a natural blonde with natural dark brown eyebrows looks stupid :) My eyes are blue...or gray...or greenish, depending on the light, the nearby reflective surfaces (particularly water), the relative intensities and hues of objects in the surrounding area, and who you ask. I like to consider my body type a little like Titian's "Venus with a Mirror" and I'm fairly petite height wise (5'3"-like).

Some College

Area public schools through high school, now attending the nation's fourth most rigorous college, see here: http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/features/college-rankings/2011/mos...

I'm a full-time college student, part-time teaching assistant, and part-time office assistant. I'd like to be a college professor later in life.

Aeropostale Retail Clothing Chain, Career Services, Psychology Office, Introductory Psychology Labs

I come from a fairly large family of five (including myself). We're third/fourth-ish generation Americans from Ireland, Germany and England. I love & identify strongly with my Irish background, for whatever reason. I have two younger siblings, and I'm quite close to my family as a whole.

I really enjoy finding & making music, either on computer programs or with an indie group I play with, and I love photography and lomography. My interests lie in psychology, philosophy, history, and art/art history. I'd like to try more fantasy and somewhat history-related games, especially ones with character creation/roleplay elements (more Assassin's Creed? Pretty please?), and I love my MMORPG of choice, the French game "Dofus."

Obsessions? Star Wars, the Sherlock Holmes movie(s), Anne Rice vampires & the Vampire Chronicles, and more recently, Doctor Who (namely with the tenth and eleventh doctors) though I'm not quite an all-out geek for it (yet).

I'm a high sensation seeking introvert (not sure how that works, myself) but it means that I like social adventures like parties and concerts and crowds and rollercoasters just as much as I like staying in. My friends vary a lot, from less social movie-watcher sorts to crazy wild partiers, from any 'scene,' and I enjoy them all (and love the weird ones :D).

Another intellectual, a polite fellow who doesn't use chat-speak and can hold an interesting conversation without being scared off by unusual philosophies and debates, who is appreciative if not able to understand complex metaphors in writing, poetry, and even life; better yet if he can come up with them on his own; someone sweet and confident enough to put out ideas and have opinions without being overbearing or domineering because I am known to shoot people down when pushed. Someone snuggly who makes nerdy jokes and is willing to go to historical events like reenactments and Renaissance Faires is a plus, especially if he would do costumes for the latter (though this is totally not a requirement). :)

I have strong emotions but I'm not into throwing them in other people's faces or on other people's shoulders; I'm more likely to take it out on a notebook/paper/Word document, or maybe an inanimate object if I'm very angry with it. >:) I'm not big on being driven about by someone else's will, but I'm indecisive and laid-back/flexible enough that sometimes other people should take the reins or we won't get anywhere. I don't diverge from my moral compass often, even if said compass is a bit skewed...and I love being outside, but not necessarily always in an athletic way.

Oh, and I use lots of smiley-faces when I type at people. :D See?

Social drinking is perfectly fine to me; alcoholism is not.

Diet in general? Hmm. I think buying local and organic is awesome and I'd like to do so more often myself, and I like some multi-cultural foods though I tend to be picky. I do like to try and limit overly unhealthy foods when possible (though it's hard on a college campus...) but I don't really do anything extreme.

Recreational use of drugs does not sit well with me

I like to try and keep up with fashion, and appear somewhat trendy or at least a bit classy, but I don't judge other people on fashion tastes...unless they're young and still willing to wear Crocs, not a fan of Crocs.

It's good to be healthy and I am in the middle of trying to lose some weight, but I'm not exactly a star athlete and I don't necessarily frequent the gym, and I don't expect or demand such of anyone else.

Personal/bodily hygiene is important to me, not to the extent of phobia but...well. A little dirt doesn't hurt, especially after being outdoors, but BO is gross, picking of the nose is gross, and not washing hands or not showering is REALLY GROSS. I keep clean.

I like children, and they seem to like me, even though a 3-year-old once told me I had "crazy eyes" (...what??). I would like to have one or at most two of my own in the future, but not anytime terribly soon.

I love pets! I have a kitten myself, an orange tabby named Bailey, and a leopard gecko named Paul. I eventually want more cats, reptiles, and possibly rats; particularly, I WILL have, at some point, two cats, one named Schrodinger and the other named Thorndike.

I'm fond of Democratic Socialism/Modified Marxism, and I will happily argue it with commitment and fervor, even if I come off like a Utilitarian weirdo. I don't mind other political views though, and I don't try to argue people into Socialism.

My thoughts on Religion for myself change on an almost daily basis, between Christian-agnostic-ish and atheistic. I cannot stand people who tote their religion (or atheism) around though, I will not be swayed or convinced; I'm open-minded to other religions and think spirituality is private, individual, not to be shoved on people.

My thoughts on smoking are a bit funky...I don't mind mild smoking and I actually like the smell of cigarette smoke, though I don't smoke myself. I don't really like heavy smoking simply because of the health hazards.
