Doctor Who
I've only been watching since last year's season and I've become a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan. It was quite quick. How long have you been watching? Who was your first Doctor? Who's your favorite Doctor? Hate anyone?
My first Doctor was 11. He's great. My favorite, however, is 9. I don't know why. I just love the big-eared weirdo. I DESPISE Rose, mostly because I was spoiled by seeing Amy first.
I started watching recently too, but like you both I'm all caught up on the new series...and actually I'm now going back through the classic series. I have trouble with those 'the best' decisions. Almost every time there's a new companion or doctor I have trouble adjusting initially, then like them as the stories progress. I think the biggest issue for me was that the first Matt Smith season was kind of uneven...especially the return of the Weeping Angels. And that both season 5 and 6 seemed heavyhanded with the 'crooked smile' and 'the doctor is going to die' story arcs. But I loved episodes in every season, and I really have enjoyed what both RTD and Moffat have brought to Doctor Who.
Really the 'Miracle Day' season of Torchwood is the what I've had the most problem with...really felt it was dissapointing compared to the previous three seasons, and that it did not have to be, that it was dummied down to try to make it a hit in the USA. I sure hope the next season is better...finally midway through when there was the backstory on Jack and Angelo I felt it somewhat redeemed itself, but I came away really not very impressed with the bulk of the story.

I started watching recently, but I started with 9 and kept going until I was all caught up. I'm with the majority on Tennant being the best, but to me - Eccleston is better than Matt Smith.
My companion order goes like this: Donna, Rory, Jack, Rose, Micky, Martha, Amy.
