I signed up to this site because it's so difficult making friends in real life without talking to them online first, but there's limited ways to do that.

Most sites are filled with people who only want to sleep around with people they don't care about, and start a conversation with "Hey sexy", with no respect for the person they're talking to. =[ As soon as someone says that, you know they don't care about you as a person, they only want to get in your knickers.

I don't like talking to people like that, I like talking to nice people. =D Who want to talk about how they are and their views on life, who share a passion for computers. If you're on this site, you've obviously ticked that box. =P

I can be random, I'm a chocoholic with a big sweet tooth, but I try not to over-do it. =P I love Sims 3 but I've been playing it on and off. I also quite like Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland (it's an amine game my friend introduced me to). I also quite like using proper grammar when I can help it. Geeky acronyms are a must, but things like mispellings due to laziness of having a type a whole extra letter or two, omg =O, are just plain stupid. Shorter versions of words commonly used in conversation are fine. Like "cos", which is technically spelt " 'cause ", but that actually does take a lot longer.

Um... I can have my funny moments, but a lot of the time if I try to be funny it fails, lol. My sense of humour is confused, I don't always understand jokes that other people do. My weakness is chocolate.

I think my body type is between skinny and normal. I'm not very skinny, but I'm not quite normal size either, just a bit under. My friends say I'm skinny, but the truth is my legs aren't so much =/, and I do have a bit of lower tummy fat; called the pouch, but it's not that bad.

I'm British- English, white. My skin is paler than most people, but I'm not REALLY white, like this screen, lol. My hair is light brown fading to dark brown/ black, due to dying my hair black about a year ago with a dye that was meant to last no more than a month, but it lasted until I've grown it out enough to have it cut off; not even Head and Shoulders budged it, only faded it very slightly. My thoughts on Smoking:

I don't like it when people smoke as it's unhealthy and there isn't any real benefit except killing yourself faster and calming yourself a bit, but the side affects extremely outweigh the benefit. And no, smoking is NOT cool.

My thoughts on Religion:

I'm an atheist, and that's that. Don't try to convince me otherwise, you will fail epically.

My thoughts on Politics:

My boyfriend loves politics, 2 of my ex's did joint degrees in it, I however don't really understand it. =[

My thoughts on Pets:

I love animals. My favourite pets are dogs and cats, I prefer larger animals, but I'm fine with small animals except snakes and arachnids. I'm scared of spiders...

Kids are so adorable, especially babies, and one day I hope to become a mother, but right now is too soon.

My thoughts on Alcohol:

Alcohol is fine when consumed every now and then, not every single week or day. And I see no need to get "completely hammered", there's no need to make your kidneys fail sooner than they would normallu, as long as you're drunk then it's done it's job. I only drink until I'm drunk then I stop. But everyone has different opinions.

My thoughts on Diet:

Dieting is sometimes necessary to lose unwanted weight or fat. It's technically unhealthy going on a diet, because your body has to adjust to consuming much less calories than before and go hungry for longer than usual, but the result is usually much healthier than carrying on with the previous unhealthy lifestyle.

The best cure is always prevention, so to avoid ever having to diet, just eat healthy in the first place before it's too late. My diet choice, which technically isn't a diet but more of a lifestyle choice, is vegetarianism. Not pescatarian, not vegan, VEGETARIAN. Lacto-ovo vegetarian to be exact. So don't ask me if I eat fish, eggs, or drink milk. Research them if you don't understand and you'll know. I've told you everything you need to know if you have the right knowledge to understand the terms.

My thoughts on Drugs:

Illegal drugs and big no. However caffeine, prescription drugs and over the counter medicines which may have legal drugs in them are fine, as long as the person taking them are using them for the purpose they were intended, and no addicted to them.

My thoughts on Hygiene:

Hygiene is a tricky thing. Everyone knows the rules of how we should do it, but sometimes we break those rules because we're lazy or don't have time. I don't brush between meals and I don't floss, I've tried it and it made my gums bleed, no thanks... I shower before I go out, but if I'm not seeing anyone for a bit, forgive me if I don't want to shower. I'll shower later when it starts to bother me though.

My thoughts on Fitness:

Exercise is important to lead a healthy lifestyle, I myself only cycle and to be honest that's the only exercise I get. I like exercising, I just don't always have time for it.

My thoughts on Fashion:

Fashion isn't important to me. I couldn't care less if I'm wearing the "latest trends" or whatever, I wear what I like and tough if it's not "cool" to other people. As long as it fits, is clean, and looks decent, not hideously strang, it doesn't matter if it's 10 years old or 1 day old.

Hi! I'm Sam. I'm very shy until I get to know someone, so I have a lot of trouble meeting people and getting to know them at first. Mostly because of this I've never had a boyfriend or done any other romantic activity. My hobbies are reading, drawing, surfing the internet, watching tv, and listening to music. I'm a real nerd, lol, and enjoy watching anime, reading manga, and pretty much anything that is in a foreign language (if it has English subtitles of course :D). I listen to a lot of music, and a lot of it is foreign as well, because I just really like the sound of foreign languages. I dye my hair a lot, because I like to be fun and unique, and my hair is something I can change without it being too permanent if I don't like it. I'm a very "go with the flow" person, and its hard to find a movie that I don't enjoy, or a book I don't like, or an activity that I won't at least try. One of my biggest fears is heights, and because of this I've never been on a roller coaster before ever. I like to travel a lot, and to try new things. I'm a very open minded person, and am very accepting of all beliefs and lifestyles. I also try to be a very optimistic person. I feel that you should go through life happy, and that there is a silver lining to every situation, even if it can't be seen at first. Hi, I'm Matt. I'm a geek of many trades, but most of all, I am a self-professed Music Geek. I'm constantly seeking out & listening to new songs/bands/musicians (as well as great older stuff I missed along the way) that cross my path in some way. Recently I had the chance to cull all the music I possess into a single itunes library and was still slightly disappointed to discover that it would only take about a 1/3 of a year to listen to my entire collection (for now anyway). And if I'm motivated & in the company of people who are interested, I can prattle on for hours about all sorts of music history & band trivia (occasionally this can happen without provocation though). I also play guitar, but mostly at an amateur level, what I really enjoy is collecting them; searching for a new guitar is like seeking out a fine painting or sculpture.

I also geek out for many things sci-fi related: Doctor Who, both the old & redux series (the Fourth Doctor is my favorite with the Fifth a close second, although I'm also partial to the Eleventh [same first name and all]); Star Trek (primarily the Original series & Next Gen, I wouldn't consider myself a Trekkie or a Trekker but I wouldn't turn down the chance to attend a convention, in fact it's my goal to attend Comic Con at least once), and Futurama, which is the show I willfully geek out the most for. I also grew up on a fairly steady diet of Monty Python & Fawlty Towers, so it practically goes without saying that I'm a huge Brit-com devotee; my recent favorites have been The IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh, Spaced & Look Around You.

I love delving into the world of science (even just saying the word out loud, emphatically... "SCIENCE!" [like in the Thomas Dolby song]). I primarily go about this by reading amazing (and relatively [not an intended pun] complicated) books about space, time, physics, quantum mechanics and the history of different scientific fields & people (particularly Carl Sagan, Richard Feynman, Neil DeGrasse Tyson & Michio Kaku). I'm particularly fond of books that incorporate science with elements of pop culture, history & sociology.

Lots of hiking and biking in the summer, but I like to have fun doing it, so nothing ridiculously strenuous.

How does one talk about one's self without sounding immodest?

Who cares, I'm Awesome.

The funny thing is I couldn't even write the above without both laughing and cringing. I'm a nerd who loves the sciences. From Molecular Biology to Theoretical Physics, I enjoy the process of knowing less and less about more and more. I am more likely to read a textbook than a novel, but I thoroughly appreciate the fine craftsmanship found in the works of a Bester or a Palahniuk. That being said, I have many years steeped in the socially awkward tea that is sci-fi and fantasy. Go ahead, quiz me. I dare you. But seriously, please don't.

As a nerd, I have always sought mastery in a new skill or knowledge in a new field. I take pleasure in cooking and baking. I would pay good money if it meant holding an interesting conversation every day, though I find you can get it for free if you keep your eyes and mind open.

Honesty and Intelligence are very important to me. Conversation is a big deal to me. And while intellect is not necessarily a precursor to engaging discourse, it certainly helps.
