I am easy going and really interested at making people happy. I am a total geek I love Star Wars, Role playing games, sci-fi, board games, video games and the like, I see myself as a creative and open minded individual. What I want out of life is to find someone to share it with, who gets me and accepts me and all of my weirdness. Then to grow old with that person and have kids along the way as family is very important to me. Keep in mind I do not want this now, maybe in 5 years, what I want is to a like minded woman who also wants to take things slow so that our relationship is unbreakable. I love sitting down to read or watch a movie or show with a nice warm cup of tea, I don't drink soda though I wouldn't hold it against you if you did. I have strong beliefs though I am willing to change my mind if the evidence and arguments are compelling enough, i love good debates. My religious views are that I do not like organized religions as I see it making good people do bad things for flimsy justifications, though I keep those thoughts to myself, friends and my significant other. I am non religious, the detailed answer would take awhile to explain, it is hard to put someones believe in life and existence into a one word answer. I enjoy long walks with a good friend or someone I love to discuss politics, philosophy, and stuff in general. I am always willing to try something at least once. Oh I hate trying to describe myself. I love to make people laugh though I think my style is hard to pinpoint, at times I am goofy and others I am satirical and witty. Atheist, of course its more complicated then that though. I am non-theist in the sense that I have never seen evidence of a god/gods or magical forces reveal itself to the world. until that day I will treat the world as though there is no god/gods/magical force and take comfort that anything that goes my way is because I caused it and if it doesn't then I suck it up and go again, because nothing cause it beyond something in the natural world that could be overcome unlike an all powerful force.

My thoughts on Politics:

I enjoy talking about them though I like creative, geeky, or philosophical topics more. In general I see politics as necessary but exhausting, though I would never want to lose my right to have my voice heard and vote.

My thoughts on Pets:

I like animals, especially cats because they are clean and relatively quiet and clean. I do not own any pets though as I have enough on my plate without worrying about a pets well being, and I would rather not own a pet then be a bad owner.

I have some younger siblings that I helped raise and though they could be a handful I enjoyed the experience. It is one of my dreams to have children with the love of my life when we are both stable and married, not before though I do not want my children growing up in difficult times.

Trying to be better at this too but it is a slow process.

I am a recently seperated guy in his mid-thirties who is searching for the right person to love. I am extremely shy and awkward, but can be quite funny, kind, thoughtful, and affectionate once you get to know me. I am also romantic and love to do various gestures to show my love whether it be a simple love note, a text, or something large like a get away to some far away new place.
I do enjoy spending quiet moments in home either watching a movie or reading a book, but at the same time love to go out and see what the world has to offer. Often I like to go on spur of the moment road trips or just go to a new restuarant or a place I have never been just for the adventure and experience of it all.
I love films of all kinds, but lean towards classic or campy horror and science fiction films. As for TV I am a fan of Doctor Who both clasic and new, as well as The Big Bang Theory, Dexter, Sherlock, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, and anything that is food related like The Layover. I do like documentaries as well.
I like music of all sorts of genres. As long as it sounds good to my ears, I like it. I am also a avid listener to tons of podcasts incluidng Tank Riot, WTF, Nerdist, and The Indoor Kids.
The books I read tend to lean more towards non-fiction such as autobiographies or biographies and anything that has to do with the behind-the-scenes of a movie or a TV show. Howeve, I do read mysteries, pulp novels, horror, and the ocassional science-fiction or fantasy book here and there.
I am also a foodie and I like to go to many restuarants and other assorted places to learn and taste all kinds of foods from all over the world. I do love to cook and bake and it always pleases me to cook anything for those that I love. In fact I plan on entering a culinary school sometime this year to further expand my passion. It is my dream that one day I would meet someone who would want to cook a meal alongside me.
I am a creative person as well, and I like making things whether it be a simple paper mache sculpture, a drawing, a painting, or a prop for a film, and sometimes even puppets. I do also write and make films from time to time.
I do light exercise at least three times a week to stay healthy. Although, I cannot describe myself as a health-nut or jock. In fact, I should make it clear that I do not like sports or anything outdoorsy such as hiking or camping.
I am not like many men out there. I prefer to see what a woman is like beyond her looks. I am the type that yearns to just to cuddle or hold hands more than anything else.
That is me in a nutshell, really. I am always a honest person and at the most I would like to be able to just to talk to someone and maybe form a relationship from there.
I should also be upfront and say that I do not like anime, Star Wars, or comic books. I do like the ocassional graphic novel here and there, but I lost interest in comics during the 90's. I do like video games, Borderlands is one of my top fave games, and finding a girl gamer would be a huge plus. I do not like table-top role-playng games however.

Not sure where to start. I'm a college-educated guy with interests in computers, martial arts, science, history, languages, and lots of other stuff. I'm a bit of a gamer, but I'm not the stereotypical gamer-guy who sits around all day and never bathes.. I have a life, I'm well dressed, I'm clean, and have no abusive habits. I speak a little Japanese, I've studied Kung-Fu and Ninjitsu, I've been interviewed on television, but I don't watch TV myself. I have a car, and am generally "not a loser".

Ok, so that's enough random stuff. People tell me that I'm usually pretty easy to get along with, I'm tolerant of people who have different ideas and opinions as long as they are polite. However, I rarely back down from a good debate about politics/history/religion/pizza/whatever unless it gets immature and unproductive. My daily routine however doesn't really give me a lot of opportunity to "get out and meet people" so ... here I am ... trying to meet a like-minded gal.

I'm told that I have a fun sense of humor. I tend to be animated with people I'm comfortable around, and enjoy the humor of others. I've been told by women I've dated in the past that their parents liked me quite a bit.

My outsides:

I've got no tats, piercings, or major visible scars (though do have a couple scars that are not normally visible). I place a lot of value on personal hygiene and bathe every day. I've got rosacea, which makes my face appear -very- red in photographs but in person it's not as pronounced and few people comment on it.

Occupation:

I've been working in information technology for about the last ten years, and I have a bachelors degree in IT Management. I'm also working on finishing two books that I'd like to publish - one is a game setting, one is non-fiction on economics.

I strongly prefer non-smokers, but it doesn't bother me if a gal likes to drink. I'm not religious, and she has to not try to convert me. I don't like shallowness, and don't practice it myself. If you tell me to stand back because you're about to solve a mundane problem with excessive use of science, you get serious bonus points. I'm the type of guy who is willing to put a lot into a relationship, so she should be willing to put a lot back into it my way .. one-sided things never work out well.

Lastly, I want to point out that I'm on here to actually meet people .. I don't enjoy just saying hi once or twice then fading out of contact, so ... yeah. If I strike up a conversation, or reply to yours, it means I'm interested. :-)

My thoughts on Smoking:

I've got an abnormally strong sense of smell. I can smell a smoker from 20 feet away outdoors on a windy day. Please don't smoke.

Religion plays no part in my life whatsoever.

I've got rather strong thoughts on politics, and it's a topic I follow closely. If you're into the tea party, we wouldn't be a good match.

I had cats growing up and enjoy them, but my current place is too small for one.

I've got no kids, but would like one/some eventually.

My thoughts on Alcohol:

I don't drink, but don't mind when other people do. I've been the DD all my life.

I don't do drugs, and don't like it when other people do drugs.

My thoughts on Hygiene:

Hygiene is very important to me, both in myself and in others. I take great pains not to smell like anything and to be clean every day when I head out the door.

I dress like a square when I go out in public, button shirt tucked into a pair of slacks. I don't own any jeans. Around the house I've been known to change into sweatpants and a t-shirt.

I'm no good at these...

Well, hi everyone! My name is Sam, and I'm trying out some of the geek dating sites on the web for the first time. I've been in one or two relationships before, but never with a 'geek', so I'm eager to see how things work out here!

I suppose I'll just say a few random things about myself and in general.

I've been a nerd all my life, and I've always enjoyed everything that's associated with the culture, from sci-fi to video games, fantasy to computers, and anime to history. Despite that though, I've never worn my nerdyness on my sleeve, like some people do. I don't conceal the fact that I like these things, but nor do I go around with a "the cake is a lie" shirt.

I always stay open-minded, and constant encourage others to do the same. You'll never have fun if you don't step outside your comfort zone, and even if you don't enjoy it, you'll at least have a great story to tell afterwards.

I have plenty of 'normal' interests as well. I love to watch Football and Basketball, and go do everyday 'guy stuff'. There's nothing that can replace getting shitfaced with your friends on the weekend, and waking up wondering what you did last night.
